Smarthost[1] will let your mail server relay mails via ISPs mail server which is authorized (probably via SPF records, Reverse DNS etc.). Most of the mail servers won't receive a mail directly from a DSL IP, due to unavailability of a proper PTR record (for reverse DNS lookup) or SPF records. So you need to setup smarthosting at sender's end, check out "relayhost" option in postconf(5)[2], which will let your mail server relay all non-local mails via "relayhost".
