Session 1 started with Gopi & Avi explaining about backups. Why backups are important, various backup strategies, different backup medias available and the software available for backup under linux. They also covered command line utilities such as dd, tar and showed how backup can be taken using these utilities. After finishing with this stuff, Gopi left for Bangalore. Bye bye Gopi.:-) Now it was the turn of Nikhil to show us the Installation of Oracle under linux and various issues related to this install. He actually performed an Oracle installation and warned us about the bugs in the installation procedure as well as the bugs in Installation document supplied with Oracle for linux. ******** L U N C H T I M E ******************* After lunch, Nikhil again showed us How you can restrict the pemissions on a Windows machine for certain users, Using System Policy Editor. Finally, it was Atul and Kishor giving talks on Network Management Tools, Networking Guidelines, How to Plan ahead, Security Guidelines, How to Control Access and all these kind of Administration stuff.
