You have to change the bios setup to boot from CDROM / Floppy Drive. Almost all pentium motherboard bios will support CDROM Booting. Before installing windows 98, boot to linux and make a linux bootable floppy. Install windows 98. Boot from linux bootable floppy and on lilo prompt type " linux /dev/hda1 " (hda1 should replace with your linux boot partition). Then edit the file /etc/lilo.conf for windows 98. and using lilo -t you can test the correctness and on command lilo , the mbr will write this for you. ( see lilo man pages ).
