PGP and GPG are used for data encryption, not network security. They
use the same underlying algorithms as SSH and SSL.

Hi Arun,
There is an increasing need to develop applications for implementing VPN in
enterprises
As you've said Linux has'nt a mail server that supports SSL, so a problem
of secure communication arises between Win and lets put it as Non-Win
machines.
As of now there are no agreed upon protocols, therefore it is up to the
software developer to use his ingenuity and come up with a solution. The
solution being use of some encryption techniques on the data and sending it
over by some established means i.e ftp, http etc.. and decoding at the
recieving end. The same is applicable to files or mail.

Therefore we're looking at something that's definately like PGP for secure
communications.
It's not Network Security ,in the sense of restricting access ,but security
from unauthorized access
in the Network.
bye,

Kaushik Sen
