I recently set up a BJC-80 (which is nearly identical to the BJC-50) with
a Red-Hat installation. There was no way I could properly configure the
printer with the RedHat printtool. It does not provide for setting
serial port parameters. I had to edit /etc/printcap and add for the
BJC entry:
ms:raw,115200
These printers will not work properly unless the line protocol is raw (in
my experience). The correct device to use is /dev/ircomm0 not /dev/irnine,
and the correct info has to be in /etc/conf.moduules.
With the BJC-80 and linux-2.2.13-irda3 all my tests have been successful,
including ones that definitely failed for some months as the code has
been refined.
