No personal experience, but there is a well known problem of the 888
missing key presses when it is not handling a call of any kind. This
is, I believe, due to an underpowered processor which can only spare
the time to check for key presses at a period which is too large. I
guess this could also manifest itself in the ways you mention, so it
seems quite likely.
