Okay I think I've fixed it.
Removing the ltmodem.o module so that it doesn't install at boot time
fixes the problem. Maybe someone should make a note of this in the
relevant HOWTO/FAQ.
With mru and mtu set to 552 I got a data rate of 0.7 Kb/s.
Are these settings appropriate? Does anyone have any advice on how to
maximise your data rate?
