Hi out there!

I'm a bit confused over the latest userspace changes.

I want to use the smc-ircc driver in FIR mode (it loads fine) and for
now want to access a HP4050N printer. Later I want to use IrLAN between
four (nearly) identical Notebooks.

My Q's: (+=yes, -=no)

o Do I have to run irmanager?
+ in /etc/irda/devices, do I need to issue
    irattach irda0 -s 1 # like irattach/README suggests
        -or-
modprobe smc-ircc # like in the IR-HOWTO exapmle
    in the start) branch?
  - o Do I have to care about /etc/irda/* at all?
o How do I initialize the IrDA stack then? I currently do something
along the
      lines of
      irattach irda0 -s 1
and have mknod'ed the /dev/ir* entires and added the lines to
      /etc/conf.modules according to irattach/README from the 0.9.10
source.
But on "cat FILE > /dev/irlpt0" I get
"bash: /dev/irlpt0: Operation not supported by device"

I'm running kernel 2.2.15pre19 and irda-utils 0.9.10. There are no error
messages in the logs other than the one I get from bash on the console.

TIA,
Marc

PS: Maybe there should be re-write of the IR-HOWTO or irattach/README
happening so's they match. It's kinda annoying not knowing what to do.
