IrNET depends on the new modular PPP driver (ppp_generic.c),
which is only available in kernel 2.4.X. If you backport the PPP
driver and apply IrDA patch up to split_irda18.diff, you should get
IrNET working trivially in 2.2.X.
That explain why I'm not too bothered about 2.2.X and quite
pushy about 2.4.X.
