Well, seems that the hard part has been solved :)

I can now use the pilot-links utilities ( and the wrappers as Kpilot
)without any problems !

What I basically changed from the description below was :

/dev/pilot now points to /dev/ircomm ( mknod /dev/ircomm c 161 0,as in
/proc/devices), instead of /dev/ttyS1

Got rid of all the stuff that RH7 has in the init script (
/etc/init.d/irda ). I changed that file to look like :

/bin/setserial /dev/ttyS1 spd_vhi
/usr/sbin/irattach /dev/ttyS1

No irmanager, no /etc/irda/drivers, etc...

and boom... the thing works now ! For a moment a was seing myself with a
useless PDA ( no MS around... ) but yes.. it works :)

The only problem that I run into is the use of the SIR port on the
IRDA... after compiling the kernel with the NSC option and booting the
new kernel, it gave me the following error

Dec 10 16:20:42 inferno kernel: nsc-ircc, Found chip at base=0x02e
Dec 10 16:20:42 inferno kernel: nsc-ircc, driver loaded (Dag Brattli)
Dec 10 16:20:42 inferno kernel: nsc_ircc_open(), can't get iobase of
0x2f8

The findchip probing result is somewhere below in this message..

Using IRCOMM protocol is not possible to pass the 115kb, right ? If so, I
don't worry much about SIR....

Cheers,
Luis
