I've tried all those things. They all work for me. I just can't
reproduce any of the errors that you're seeing. Please

Maybe. But that doesn't explain why it all works fine on my
system. You're definitely using vanilla 0.1.7 with just the
escape3+reps+bugfix patches applied?
