Are you talking about RAID? or you just want a cron job like

cp -fur /directoryindisk1 /directoryindisk2

So, I got my ISA Realtek8019 card working. Sorta. pnpdump generated an
almost usable conf file; stealing stuff from the Windows side of things got
me a legit IO address and IRQ.
However, I have to manually do an ifconfig and feed it its IP -- else there
no eth0. I can certainly stick the needed lines/commands into an rc file,
but there has to be a better way.

Is there?

Thanks!

AFAIK, you don't. Netscape for Windows 9x is the same way: Only one POP account
is allowed.

I don't have any helpful ideas, except to say that it isn't your fault. I've
noticed the same thing. Video animation performance under Windows 9x is far
superior to KDE, anyway. Perhaps it's the fault of the video apps themselves?
Or is it the X-server?

hello,

I want to use the following command within a shell script to
automatically send e-mail with the output of a program:
  mail -s subject user@host < file

When I run the script my ISP returns the mail with fatal error
messages:
  While talking to mx06.mindspring.com ...
550 - Mindspring mail servers are unable to deliver ...
  ...

I can send e-mail using Pine which points to my ISP's SMTP mail
server. But I don't if Pine will do what I want to do from within
my shell script, so that's why I am trying to use mail.

Is my problem sendmail related? I have no clue how to configure.
(newbie here)

Any help appreciated.

Many thanks in advance...

Searches them and does what with the results? If you want to find all the
MS-Turd documents that contain the word "carrot", for example, you'd just
"grep carrot *.doc" and get answers very quickly. If you wish to turn the
text of an MS-Turd document into something any browser can understand,
"strings" is your friend.

I'm sure you could get a better answer if you described your problem and
your requirements in more detail.

Subject: Linux & 40Gb hard drive..
Date: Thu, 22 Jun 2000 01:17:43 GMT

I have been dying to buy a Maxtor 40Gb hard drive ever since they made it to
the shelves in the stores and finally got around to picking one up the other
weekend. I installed it, created a 20Gb partition for my MP3s and it was
working wondefully. That partition still works great..... However, I created
a 6Gb partition to install a new instance of Linux on... I swapped my hard
drives around so that it was the primary master (I set the jumpers correctly
too) in case something went wrong... I wanted to be able to revert back to
my previous install on the 20Gb drive.

Linux installed fine and booted fine, but then nothing worked properly. I
tried to compile Resin, but the configure script never completed due to
aclocal crashing from Segmentation Faults. I also get errors when I use two
of the three partitions (one of them a 6Gb partition and the other a 12Gb
partition). This is what the error looks like:

EXT2-fs error (device ide0(3,65)): ext2_readdir: bad entry in directory
#655516: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=0, inode=-, rec_len=0,
name_len=0

Has anyone experienced this problem before and know a possible solution? I
would greatly appreciate any help for I would like to purchase another 40Gb
hard drive to install FreeBSD on my other machine.

Thank you,

John Brainard

This is a continuation of a message thread that I started a while
back. I can't mount my cdrom. I get the message of can't mount block
device.

New information. I learn how to change the size of the font on my
display and was able to see that some modules were not found. I have
done an rm -? that I read about in removing unresolved modules. I
then did something else according to the posting. I went through all
the steps in changing the kernel and still have 5 unresolved modules.
They are sr_mod.o sg.o cdrom.o emul0k1.o and isofs.o I believe
that this is the problem. Please help me try to fix this.

Thank you

If you don't have root access to the mail box to set up remote printing,
you could use 'rlpr'. I was able to compile rlpr on my Solaris ISP (which
uses a totally different non-lpr printing system). I simply set pine to
use rlpr, and was able to print from a ISP telnet session back to my
Linux box. But I did have to use the rlpr proxy on my linux box, because
at the time I did not know how to set up remote lpr.

I never knew what Attachec-to-Ansi was. I thought that just printed to
the screen.

multiple e-mail accounts. However, I have no idea how good it is. I did

I would suspect it's the fault of the video apps themselves.

The is a reason why I don't suspect it's the x-server. Right now, I use
ATI All-In-Wonder 128 16MB AGP. I plug my Playstation into the back of
the card and use GATO. When I use the Play Station, the graphic is good.
Well, plug DVD through S-terminal sometimes too. I have got nothing to
complain.

Maybe the reason I have provided above has nothing to do with
X-Server... I could be wrong.

I wouldn't touch MS Word with a ten foot pole. And I have *never*
formatted equations, complex or otherwise. The simple fact is that
LateX (actually I prefer plain TeX) produces superior documents,
and that is why I use it.

I've seen *huge* numbers of terrible looking documents coming from
people who use Word and similar software. What I see from people
who use LateX is several steps better.

I have several Slackware 7 Linux boxes and want to sync them all to one

daemons for the workstations to connect with and obtain the correct time.
in.timed, ntpd and xntpd do not open any ports unless I am not configuring
them properly.

I am looking for a simple time daemon to open a port on the main server
which the remaining boxes can sync to. I am currently planning to use
netdate on all the systems for time updates, but I still need that one
daemon to grant the time updates to the workstations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much in advance.
