Hi,
I am using a P166 running RedHat 5.1 kernel 2.0.35-2 as a server for a
small network. The rest of the machines are Win95. I am using Samba and ISC
DHCP.
How can I get sendmail to queue up mail that have external addresses, so
that I can send them later when I connect to my ISP?
1. Here's what I have done:
Edited /etc/sendmail.cf as follows:
a. DSmyispname
b. configured to queue expensive mail.
2. Here's what I plan to do:
Run sendmail -q -v after connecting to my ISP.
3. Here's whats stopping me:
a. When I try and send mail with external addresses from one of the client
machines (Win95) the client mail program (Outlook Express) stalls for about
1.5 mins and then gives the error messg something like: ....we do not
relay....
b. On a hunch I tried to do the same thing from the server and I found that
if I logged into the server as any user and ran Pine to send external
messages, again there would be a long pause when trying to send but this
time the mail is accepted. I can now connect to my ISP and send the mail.
c. Once having done the above step for a certain mail address, I am now
able to send mail to that address from any of the Win95 boxes, but not to
any other address!!
Is there anyone out there who can help me? The manpage is'nt very
descriptive about configuring /etc/sendmail.cf. Is there any HOWTO
specifically for sendmail? the Mail-HOWTO was no help either.
Thanks in advance,
Ishaaq Chandy
