Thanks for Cc'ing Tim's mail Tom, I didn't get the original so would have
missed the solution.
Fake does solve the fallover problem, I can do a manual fallover with
about 5 seconds of disruption.
Now it's just a matter of writing a modified fake that only broadcasts for
a few seconds.
