if you want more interfaces you just have to change the network.sh file,
no big deal. Also the driver itself should support for more than 5
interfaces. If that's a problem, try the znix NICs with 4 ports per card
etc...

no experience with this kind of combination, 3 ethernets, 10 Mbps, one
linked to an ADSL-modem, are running well on a 486dx-33 with 8 MB RAM and
one floppydrive.
It (RAM) depends mostly on the number and kind of extra services you
intend to run.
We've got a bunch (20) of LRPs running for Token Ring. It sure requires
more than ethernet, what we had available (the least) were P5-133, 32 MB
RAM. The biggest box uses 13 MB of these, of which 5 MB for the RAMdisk
