Hi,

I've noticed something strange about my ftps from my Linux box. If I
use ncftp (on the Linux box) every once in a while a packet or two is
dropped and everything halts for a second or two to restart at the
missing data position. If I use ftp voyager on my Windows 98 box which
is masqueraded through the same Linux box, I get no dropped packets at
all.
My connection is a 7.1 Mbps ADSL line and I have downloaded from this
site at better than 250KB/s before (masqueraded).
My Linux box is an Intel PII 300 running Linux 2.2.1-ac4.
I did some calculations and it seems that I am receiving less than
100 KB/s before the dropped packets which I should be able to handle
easily.
Also ifconfig doesn't seem to show that my Linux box is dropping the
packets.

tcpdump with packet loss: http://www.gobills.com/ftpbad.txt
tcpdump without packet loss: http://www.gobills.com/ftpok.txt

Any ideas?

Thanks,
    Jason P Schanuel

PS I noticed this since late 2.1 kernels
