The good news is that we use here the same setup for our terminal
server and nor Linux nor Cyclades has any limitations so far, all ports
have modems and works just great.
The bas news is that you may have a bad port :-( and that is how to
test it:
- comment anthing pertinet to that port from init, like portslave,
mgetty or whatever
- open a console and fire up "minicom -s", than select "SERIAL PORT
SETUP"
and choose your faulty port ( ex. ttyC12) WITH modem attached and powerd
and put in command mode( not leased line)
- select from that menu also a suitable speed (57600), harware flow
control and save the setings.
- leave setup menu and try some AT commands like ATZ, ATIn where nis
1..6
If the modem answers, the port is OK and you have faulty software
settings if not is about time to search for that warranty card :(.
