I'm trying to get used to rpm's but I'm not having much luck. Seems it's
like Windows installs - either they magically work or the magically don't.

I tried to install mgetty using the rpm. It seemed to install (no error
msgs, mgetty is in /sbin). I modified /etc/inittab with the line:

d1:12345:respawn:/sbin/mgetty -s 38400 ttyS1

which is working on my other machine (running sort-of-Slackware). Ran 'init q'
and dialed in. No response - the modem isn't answering the phone. Man mgetty and
the stuff in /usr/doc/mgetty* doesn't tell my anything (no even how to modify
/etc/inittab!).

 - Should I be using cua1 or modem (linked to cua1 and works using ezppp or
seyon)
 - What have I missed in installation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
