Did you compile Samba yourself?
Which version?
Version 2.0 had a problem with it's configure program and RedHat where it
would build in too many security systems (shadow etc).
I think that this was fixed in 2.0.1 or 2.0.2. If not, remove the unwanted
bits between configuring and compiling.
