Hi! I've configured my DNS server 'trollveggen' originally with RH5.2 and then compiled 2.2.1 kernel into it. I'm running bind 8.1.2. Using nslookup on the machine 'trollveggen' gives correct answer if I in nslookup ask for the host name only: > server Server: trollveggen.mikrokrets.no Address: 193.69.86.8 Name: server.mikrokrets.no Address: 193.69.86.1 but, doing accordingly from a client I get this answer: > server Server: trollveggen.mikrokrets.no Address: 193.69.86.8 *** trollveggen.mikrokrets.no can't find server: Non-existent domain asking with the complete name however gives correct result: > server.mikrokrets.no Server: trollveggen.mikrokrets.no Address: 193.69.86.8 Name: server.mikrokrets.no Address: 193.69.86.1 This used to work before when I had RH5.2 with the kernel 2.0.36 from RH.
