ifconfig on the client box reports errors:

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:A0:CC:27:4D:36
          inet addr:192.168.0.27 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:2705 errors:179 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:179
          TX packets:3160 errors:1 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:1
          collisions:14
          Interrupt:10 Base address:0xd000

On the server side it does not show anything wrong.

By the way I just found out that the problem is one-way: using ftp on client to
get a file from the server is slow. Using ftp one the server to get a file from
the client gives .8 Mb/sec.
