Hi all,
Some of you might remember my earlier mail regarding problem with
PCnet-PCI II eth card. My Slackware 2.0.33 box has a dos partion which I
seldome use. I checked my dos partition for viruses and found two are
three which were removed by antivirus. When I boot the machine in Linux I
found that the machine was pinging its own IP's but not of the intranet
or internet.

In DOS I found that the the IRQ has changed from 10 to 5. I again
changed the IRQ to 10 and rebooted. To my surprise I found that the irq of
the card agian changed to 5 after reboot, then I replcaed irq 10 with 5 in
following line of /etc/rc.d/rc.modules file and card was pinging to
outside.

/sbin/modprobe ne io=0x220, irq = 10

Next day i agin found that system (which was on) was not pinging
outside. On reboot in DOS it was observed that the irq has changed to 10
and some new virus in dos partition.

Can a virus infect dos partition via Linux?.
