The setup I have here involves having 2 network cards in the same linux
box. For some time this was 2 NE2000 contemptable cards, and the network
was 10Base2 based. I decided to switch to 10BaseT, but due to the
equipment I had available, thought it best to use only one 3c905.
The computer promptly rebooted with a kernel with both drivers in it, but
no matter what I put in the lilo.conf, the computer _always_ assigned eth0
to the PCI based 3c905, rather than the ISA ne2000, which became eth1.
This even with lines like:
append="ether=5,0x300,eth0 ether=0,0,eth1"
where eth0 is the information about the NE2000. In the end, I've shovelled
both 3coms into the server and played about a bit. For the 2 hours uptime
I've had, they appear to be working perfectly acceptably.
Cheers,
Simon
