We're very new to the wonderful idea of Beowulf clustering,
so please forgive the naivete of these questions:
1) Does anyone have experience (good/bad) running Sybase Adaptive
server (free 11.0.3 Linux version) in a Beowulf cluster, or even
in a standalone Linux box, for that matter?
2) Does installation of PVM or MPI in a private Linux LAN "make" the
LAN a Beowulf cluster, and can regular Linux applications (not written
with PVM in mind) take advantage of the parallelism in any way?
3) More specifically, can the current Sybase Linux version take advantage
of parallelism in a Beowulf cluster simply by having PVM runtime
installed?
Again, I recognize the newbie nature of these questions, but would
really appreciate as much info as you have time to provide. Thanks in
advance,
