It's a software configurable hardware setting. Per default the card detects
if the netwerk it's attached to is 10 or 100 and adjusts its settings. But
you can override this by using the 3c905cfg.exe program which resides in one
of the files at ftp://ftp.3com.com/pub/nic/3c90x/
<ftp://ftp.3com.com/pub/nic/3c90x/> (dunno which 1).

Subject: 3com 100->10
Hi,
I have a couple of 3com 905x 10/100 (boomerang and
cyclone)..They work
perfectly fine and operate in the 100M mode...How do I get
to use them
in the 10M mode..??? Is there any such thing..?? I did not
look closely
at the ethernet-howto..
Thx,
Arni
