I have a very similar problem to this, but it occurs intermittantly
on linux kernel 2.1.96, and continually on 2.2.x. did not occur
with 2.0.x kernels. On the same modem, and with the same scripts.

I cannot get the system to dial out on a 2.2.x, as it just goes into
som kind of loopback mode (like in the above example)...

Anyone heard of similar problems ??

I'm using an omni.net plus modem on an isdn connection..

(Redhat 6.0 and 5.2 makes no difference to this problem).
