Better solution, if you don't care about the other partitions on the disk do
cp /dev/zero <drive device>
this will wipe the drive and is often told to newbies to get rid of them (when
they work out not to do it after the 50th time, they may have learned to read a
manual first too ;-) )
fdisk should ask to create a new partition header after this.
