If simplistic is considered sane, yes.
If I have multiple tulip-boards in my box, I can't define that I want
particular board to be i.e. eth2, without resorting to 'ip set' tricks.
Consider a case, originally in the box one tulip (eth0), one ne2000 (eth1)
then I need another segment and add tulip board, now devices are
tulip(eth0), tulip(eth1), ne2000(eth2)
All init/firewall/ipx/zzz/yyy scripts need editing.
