Seems the most transparent router is named "bridge" ;-)

There are some PD bridges written for PC - maybe you can
adapt some and use for your purposes? Some disadvantage
is it needs one PC dedicated to be used as the bridge -
it cannot be used for any other purpose at the same time.

If you need, I remember to have source code of one.
(it is written partially in C, partially in ASM, and
 uses packet drivers to receive/send data on the net)
It is called YAPCBR (Yet Another PC Bridge) and is PD.

Anyway, seems it is an interesting idea for security -
to make own filtering box which passes what I allow. :-)
Without any services, system... only examine and either
forward or reject every packet, as quickly as possible.

Do you think about such an application of the router?
