Hi all-
I will be getting a one-IP dsl line as we move into a new house soon. I
have an overall plan I have been working on for the networking portion on my
internal net. Perhaps someone could comment on it.
I want to have one machine doing ipmasq/firewalling connected directly to
the dsl device. Behind that will be a 4 machine or so network hubbed. This
will include two linux boxes (debian), one stand alone 98 system, and one
dual boot 98/BEos box. I will be using the 192.168.* stuff for this since
thats what I have now with a 56k modem setup. The server will have two
Intel EtherExpress 100+ cards installed. The server is an old P166 system I
have had for quite some time. I use debian only on my linux systems so all
the systems will most likely be either slink or potato. The standalone
win98 box is my son's and the dual boot is mine. I have samba services
running as well as printing off the second linux box now.
What speed ethernet interface should I deliver to the dsl device? I have a
hub that is a 16 port 100mbit hub here. All my network cards are 10/100
cards.
Thanks!
