You're most likely hitting the problem with encrypted passwords
coming from the NT side and the Linux side isn't prepared to deal
with it yet. Read the docs that come with Samba (I believe one of
them is titled "ENCRYPTED" or something related) and it'll show
you how to setup encrypted password support on the server
side. The other choice is to turn off encryption on the client
side, but that could mean having to twiddle the bits of 650
clients! The server side solution will probably work better for
you.
