Ever since upgrading a number of our servers to kernel 2.2.13, we have been
receiving this error message in syslog regularly. Reverting back to 2.0.37
eliminates this message. The card that is reporting the error is a 3C509.
Has anyone seen this and is there a fix.

BTW, I have already verified the following, so these are not the answer.

1. The cards have had PNP turned off using the DOS configuration utility.
2. The IRQ used by the card (10) is reserved for ISA/legacy use in the
    system BIOS.
3. The cables are not loose.
4. The card works properly most of the time. (except when it is reporting
    this error)
5. The system BIOS is set for a non-PNP OS.

Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I have already done the following and
not found an answer:

1. Searched the 3c509 driver mailing list archives.
2. Searched the linux-net mailing list archives.
3. Searched deja.com USENET archives.
4. Searched linuxcare.com.
5. Searched the linux-kernel mailing list archives.
6. Sent e-mail to Donald Becker (no response yet).
7. Searched for an updated driver (found two with newer version numbers
(specifically 1.16C and 1.17) but both contain errors that cause
compilation to fail and 1.17 caused a kernel oops after I corrected
the compilation error and tried to load it).

I don't know if these are 3c509B cards or not. If there is a way to tell
without having to open the systems that can be done over the network, let
me know and I can check this (please be aware that if the check involves
taking the card offline, that I can't do that since I am connecting to the
machines via the network using the card).
