Note that 2.0.37 -> 38 diff is quite small and doesn't touch
drivers/net/* at all IIRC.  Even from 2.0 to 2.2 I don't think there is 
any significant change to 3c509.c (SMP and MCA support dont change 
anything if not enabled)
