I think tc is definitely the right tool to solve this problem, but
I can't help you figure out how to set it up -- I too am puzzled by
iproute2, and the more I read the puzzlder I get.
My goal is to get outgoing web/mail server traffic (TCP) not to
interfere with game server traffic (UDP). If anybody has any clue
about how to solve these problems, please post to the list! Hell,
I'll send $50 to anybody who sends me an ip/tc script that does
what I need. If it gives me enough insight to figure out how tc
works, I'll also write the long-awaited tc HOWTO document.
