Disagree strongly. Except when you are talking battery or solar power, the
stand-by power dissipation of a micro-drive is in the same ballpark of
always-on flash memory. You would have to add power control to the flash
memory system to reduce the power enough, whereas the spindown for the disk
is there already.
That hard disk can be used to maintain a more complete log of intrusions
without increasing the price of the product. You ARE going to have a
firewall, yes?
