A reply to me from helius. The meaning, if you run Windows, you get the
software free from the DirecPC people, but if you run linux you have to
pay $199 for the driver software (plus cost of hardware etc.). The bit
about disabling DirecPC is because I asked if it was possible to use
the ISP directly, without the sattelite, in order to avoid wasting high
bandwidth hours on things such as IRC and quick email runs.

Guess I'll continue investigating line of sight radion connect to my
ISP (~6 miles by road, less distance LOS). Startup costs would be quite
a bit higher, but monthly ongoing costs + allowed bandwidth should even
it out quickly. <sigh>

We are the only ones that current have software for the Linux OS.  Our
smallest package is the lite user for $199. You may use any of the
monthly plans from DirecPC.

With our software there is a way to disable the DirecPC system and go
directly through the ISP.
