I am looking to buy some network cards. I already had a link sys 5 port
nub, and 2 three com cards. I can' get one of them to work, and I it is
a 509b(pr something like that, the ones people have been complaining
about). If you guys could recommed a brand and model that you use
running linux and like? I would really appriciate it;and I am looking
for a fairly cheap one, I just want to make sure people have gotten it

I can ping the network card on the linux machine and I can ping the card on
the Win95 machin, but they cannot ping each other. How do I configure the
Win95 pc ? I take it that TCP/IP -> Ethernet PCI Adapter is wrong. I have
checked the cable and ternimators several times !

Hi all,
I'm just puzzeling about how to configure my firewall. I'm now using IP
chains with kernel 2.2.7.
I like to REJECT all input and output.
So I do that.
After that I turn icmp protocols and dns port on. I need them, that's
why.
And then accept all output from my computer to the Internet.
Ok.
But when I like to telnet to my ISP, it can't connect. I think that the
telnet.d service from my ISP connects to a post higher than 1024 on my
computer.
It that true? (it's only a suggestion).
If not, how does it work. So I can configure my firewall.
Or is there a good document which explaines all this?

So, your append message should look like this:
append = "ether5,0x320,ne"
That was from the LILO Howto, and somewhere lost in the SCSI
Howto. Your append line in the lilo.conf is fine, but you're passing the
wrong options. the 'ether' option should take in the IRQ, address, then
the name of the module. you said before you had eth0 and eth1 aliased to
ne in your modules.conf, which is cool, but you need to pass the options
to the NIC, to lilo as well, at boot time. Give that a try, and see what
happens.
