I dont see the relationship between upgrading RPM and configuring X, or be it i
may be missing something wonderfull.
If you were to explain your problem and show us some error messages which get
written to your screen when starting X then we may be able to help.
In most cases using the program "xf86config" will help getting X started
properly.
