I think that the latest 2.1.xx kernel is going to be the first 2.2.0
stable kernel.

finger @linux.kernel.org gives you the recent versions. Subscribing to
linux-kernel-announce at vger.rutgers.edu (the list might be named
something else) keeps you informed about the 2.1.xx kernels, but I'm not
sure about the 2.0.yy kernels.
I just finger kernel.org from time to time.
And you also might want to watch http://freshmeat.net. People announce new
releases of their software at that site, including new kernels.
