Yamaha CDRW - 512 bytes/Block

i just got a Yamaha CDRW4260t. i dual boot from Win98
& Linux (Red Hat 5.1). there is a jumper that will allow the
recorder to read by 512 bytes/Block, for Unix type
enviroments. the lit says not to enable for any other os. does
anyone have any experience they can share.

will the recorder work without that jumpered under Linux?
