Welllll, yes and no. Linux will run on a 386, but needs at least 4 megs of
Ram. I'm running it with 8 and it's slow (on a 486). The video card should
be be ok, it's the same as mine. You will need a larger HD. You can
install Linux without a CD, but it's a pain in the ass. My suggestions to
you would be to add at least 6 meg of RAM (or more), a second HD a 520mg
would do, and get an old CD player. Or if you can scrape up the money get
a bigger system and connect them together.
BTW, from what I understand a 4meg system will run Linux, but not Xwin.
But I might be wrong :).
Oh, one other thing you could look into is "elk". What I heard is that
that's a Linux someone is trying to stuff on a 8086, it might work for
you.
