You can use your mouse to 'cut and paste'.
For example i have a 3 button Micky$oft mouse connected to a serial port.
I want to put text from console 1 to console 2,

I select text in console one by holding the left button down and drawing the
mouse over the desired text, it will be "highlighted" making it easy to see,
now release the left button when the text has been copied, goto console 2 and
click the middle button, the text is now pasted to that console it will be
pasted starting at where the cursor is placed, in the console or in whatever
application which is being run.

Anyway, i think your floppy problem was, "No floppy disk in the drive"!!
Of course i could be wrong.
