I have been doing my work in root. My work consists of faxing, receiving
faxes, and using Applixword. I moved these files to a home directory.
The problem that I'm having is in regards to access to certain files,
particularly the /var/spool/fax files. What I did was to file the faxes
received and sent into the /var/spool/fax/archive file. It is further
bfiled away by whether the fax is an order or result and then further
divided by wether that order or result is faxed out or received. Then
those faxes are then filed into the Client file. It is the client file
that I can not enter or add to. Also I can't find my faxes I send out.
BTW, I can access all this under root. I've done chmod for the files,
but when I try to do that for a client file, it says I can't. Please
don't tell me that I have to enter every single fax and chmod each one.
But then, what about accessing /var/spool/fax/docq which is were the
sent faxes reside. I can't access that from the home directory.
I'm assuming it has something to do with permission being granted, but I
start getting lost when trying to understand that part of Linux. Please
respond with some step by step, very clear directions.
BTW, I ahve a SuSE 5.3 bos w/Applixware 4.4.1 and HylaFAX 4.0pl2
