I hope this is ok but...
in his answer to someone's fstab problem, Mr Richard Evans has pointed out
an amazingly important bit of information that i am finally coming to grips
with. Reading the first 2 chapters of 'Essential System Administration'
was useful, too (not that i am a S.A. but every bit of info helps...). And
that is:
permissions
it seems that nearly all my problems to date have been because of
permissions, especially as i keep forgetting that root is not too bothered
by such trifles...hehe
