This may be a rather basic question, but I am definitely a newbie to
the Linux world. I have installed Slackware 3.4, but I can only
successfully boot from my lilo floppy disk. When I boot lilo from the
hard disk, I get the following messages:

Open: Read-only file system
httpd: could not open transfer log file
/var/lib/httpd/logs/access_log.

After getting this, I'll get the login prompt. When I attempt to
login as root, I get the following:

<the date> <the time> login[47]: unable to change tty 'dev/tty1' for
user 'root'

unable to change tty /dev/tty1: Bad filenumber

What does this mean, and how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance,
