Hi,

When I saw that the name of this list had 'Newbie' in it, I figured this
is the place for me. But, I've been lurking here for a week or so and I
must say, YOU GUYS DON'T TALK LIKE NEWBIES!

Anyway, I just finished my first install of linux. I put Red Hat 5.2 on
a system with OS/2 Warp v3 and Boot Manager. I wanted to put LILO in
the linux partition and add that partition to the Boot Manager menu.
But during install, when I told it to put LILO in /, it protested. I
don't remember the reason it gave for refusing to install LILO where I
wanted it.

So, I'm booting from floppy.

I want to boot to Warp Boot Manager and then select between OS/2 and
linux. How do I now install just LILO in / on its own, not as part of
the whole linux install?

Also, in OS/2s fdisk, the option of adding / (a logical partition) to
the Boot Manager menu is greyed out and I'm not able to select it.. In
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/users/iwj10/linux-faq/section3.html#os2boot it
implies that the partition should be added to Boot Manager before
installing linux. Is that necessary? Do I have to re-create that
partition, add it to Boot Manager, and re-install linux?

Thanks in advance,

Tom
