Slackware defines runlevel 4 to start xdm, redhat uses runlevel 5.
So one would type init 5 on a redhat system and 4 on slackware in this
senario.
If all works as it should then do the following;
Slackware;
edit /etc/inittab change line 12 from;
id:3:initdefault:
to
id:4:initdefault:
Make sure line "x1:4:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc.4" is uncommented.
On the next reboot you should go strait into x.
Redhat;
Do the same, but use runlevel 5, also make sure that there are no deamons
started which you dont need or want in /etc/rc.d/rc5.d if there are links
there which start things you dont want delete the symlink(s).
