I am having a problem with my installed libraries.

I installed RH 5.1 a while ago and then downloaded the new glibc 2.0.7-29.
Today I downloaded x11amp and was going to install it. I got the .rpm and
when I tried to install it, it complained that libXpm.so.4 could not be
found. A 'locate libXpm.so.4' reveals that I have it in
/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/libXpm.so.4 and libXpm.so.4.9.

I checked ld.so.conf to make sure that it was scanning that path and ran
ldconfig. This did not solve the problem. The only thing that I can think
of is that libc-5 is still on my system. Does having glibc and libc5 on my
system pose a problem?
