-I would load up windows first on the first one or two partitions that you
make.  The load up linux which will allow you to configure LILO which will
be loaded onto your MBR so you'll be able to boot either OS.  You may be
able to do it the other way, but this way works for me.  Also, about fat16
versus fat32 I have both on my windows partitions and both of them will
read in linux so for space concervation I would make a primary bootable
drive fat16 which would have about 1 gig (this is because windows is
horrible and reinstallation is called for way too often and it is good to
isolate windows) The make a extended partition of whatever size leaving
the rest for linux.

-With a HD as big as the one you have you might as well have a swap
partition.  I would make it 128MB although the rule of thumb is 2 times
the amount of RAM.
