Well, Matthew, it's hard to know how to respond to that. Basically, do you
want to trust your money to the assumption that Dell's NOT specifically
identifying a modem as a WinModem means it isn't an HSP modem and therefore
will work with Linux? That's not a technical question, so I have no advice
for you. (One thing: "WinModem" is actually trademarked, and while the Linux
community uses it as a generic term for HSP modems, Dell may or may not ...
I've no way of knowing ... do you?)

If you do decide to go ahead with the purchase, I hope you report to the
list on how well it works. That way, we all learn something.
